Curio Dance has built a reputation for excellence in dance education and performance for students across the lifespan, from age 3 to 19, to aspiring professional dancers, to adults. Classes are offered in recreational dance and performing divisions. Recreational dance is for the student interested in improving physical skills that support motor skill development and self esteem in a fun, social environment. Performing division is more intense and designed for the student who aspires to dance as a primary or adjunct activity in the performing arts. The aim in all classes is to nurture the dancers’ individual talents in a positive environment, improve confidence, teach poise and respect. The students are encouraged to share their gifts, talents and hard work with the community through dance performance. The curriculum is based on the performing arts of Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theater and Hip Hop.
Former students have continued their dance training in world-renown University Dance Programs, won high honors at Youth American Grand Prix (elite dance competition), and some are currently soloist and principal dancers in National and International dance companies around the world.
Our state of the art facility features Harlequin professional sprung floors, high grade marley that offers protection from injury with shock absorption and slip resistance, ballet barres, full wall mirrors, professional sound systems and sound proofing. We maintain a clean facility for a safe environment for each dancer.
There are two impressive productions annually. Dar Gracias, our winter show, is inspired by nature, the music and movements are expressions of gratitude for each other and this wonderful world. The Spring Performance is an end of the year celebration in full costume to present original choreography and skills achieved. During the year, there are additional optional performance opportunities in the community at seasonal events. Curio Dance utilizes a costume rental program to manage the financial impact on families and to maintain a commitment to ecology.
